As citizens of Ghana and GáDángme Youth, we are dedicated to the upliftment of the cause of all GáDángme and for that matter, Ghanaians in general. We are seeking to draw national attention to Ghanaian’s that today 28th of February marks the 61st year of the death of our heroes. We have raised the following concerns in relation to the proposed Founders Day by His Excellency, President J.E.A Mills.
What recognition will be accorded our forgotten heroes (Sgt. Adjetey, Cpl. Attipoe and Private Odartey Lamptey) who shed their blood at the 28th February Crossroads to present their petition to the Governor which acted as a catalyst for the proclamation of independence now!
Are we as a nation remembering and commemorating their memory well enough that future generations will be able to recall their contribution?
We suggest that Government factor in the above concerns and possibly revise the Founders Day date to 28th February to inculcate the rest to be remembered and commemorated.
We are tasking the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon on whose jurisdiction the statue of Sgt. Adjetey is mounted to assume immediate responsibility of maintaining the edifice to enhance our cultural heritage.
Finally we are making a passionate appeal to His Excellency, President J.E.A Mills to review the procedures in returning the Stolen GáDángme Lands and also we will like to send a note of caution to those who have illegally acquired such lands to heed the President’s call to halt developments on those lands or else we will advise ourselves.
